How Students Can Get Free Uber Eats Delivery

November 26, 2022 by Payton Turner Leave a Comment

I don’t know how we used to get by without delivery apps. Before this invention, we were restricted to Chinese food and pizza delivery, which aren’t  good options for those who can’t eat gluten. So, being able to order from nearly any restaurant via a delivery app is a preferable  new and improved food delivery alternative.

The issue with ordering food for delivery with an app is often the price. After the cost of the food (often higher than dining in-store due to extra fees charged by the delivery service to the restaurant), plus the service fee, delivery fee, and tip, ordering food online can be a costly endeavor. However, delivery fees are a thing of the past when you obtain a free Grubhub+ membership for students or  an Uber One account.

Here is how students can get free food delivery with Uber One:

What are the Benefits?

The main appeal to Uber One is the unlimited $0 delivery benefit affiliated with UberEats. Obviously, this comes with the small catch that your order needs to be larger than $15, which should be noted, but easily doable on most orders. It is also important to note that this ‘free delivery’ does not include other fees, tax or tip.

Benefits associated with Uber One include up to a 10% discount on UberEats, as well as other special offers and promotions. When taking Ubers, members get 5% off rides and preferred access to top-rated drivers.

Overall, Uber advertises that members, on average, save over $25 a month because of their membership.

What Does it Cost?

Uber One costs $9.99 a month, but it should not be very difficult to get a free membership through the strategic use of credit cards.

Capital One announced that some of their cash-back credit cards include up to a free year of Uber One. The Quicksilver family of cards is associated with 6 months of free service while those with the Savor family of cards benefit from 12 months of a free membership, which is fitting for a card centered around dining. After the monthly membership fee is charged to your card, a credit for the entire amount will appear on your statement and will be discounted from the amount owed.

This also applies to students who have the SavorOne for Students card, a card that I urge students to sign up for due to its great cashback on categories of spending that are common for students such as dining, groceries and activities. Students with this card will get a full year membership, 10% cashback on purchases with Uber and Uber Eats, on top of the free food delivery, which is not too shabby .

The Last Point

Apart from the SavorOne for Students card being the card I recommend most frequently to friends and other students, free food delivery is one of the best benefits I have ever seen in association with a student credit card. I have already signed up for my free Uber One account through Capital One and I urge other students to do the same.

I hope some students are able to take advantage of this awesome deal. Not a bad perk for a no annual fee credit card and great for late night food deliveries while studying.
