Seat:  2K

Cabin:  First

Date:  02/04/2020

Scheduled Departure:  10:00am

Scheduled Arrival:  9:25pm

Just as before, I was greeted at the aircraft door and escorted to my seat.  This time I was seated in 2K.  The first class cabin had 8 empty seats with all the middle seats open.  The seat compartment was nearly identical to the previous one so I won’t review that again.  The only slight differences were the location of the tray release and that the TV has a slightly better screen.  Seat 2K does have three windows compared to the 2 windows in 1K.

A pillow and bedding was waiting at my seat and the flight attendant brought over slippers, an eye mask, and the menu for the flight.  I was hoping to get another set of pajamas and amenity kit but they don’t provide those for daytime flights.  I was also asked when I would like to take a shower and I opted for the latest slot, 90 minutes prior to landing.  As boarding was finishing, I was offered a pre-departure beverage (Dom Perignon on the ground this time), dates, a snack basket, and Arabic coffee (passed on that again).  After this service, I noticed that this crew was not going to be as service oriented or enjoyable as my first flight.  The wine list and menu for the flight:

We pushed back from the gate a little late and all of the baskets and glasses were collected.  I was able to spot the silhouette of the Burj Khalifa in the distance as we taxied out.  The wait was short and soon we were off the runway cruising to Singapore.

Once in the air, service was slow.  The last flight had a very proactive crew who asked what we wanted to drink and eat soon after takeoff.  This time there was a full hour before I interacted with any flight attendant and at that point they gave me another glass of champagne and warm nuts.

I had finished a movie before I was even offered a refill.  It was also at that point I was able to order my meal.  Many of the items were the same as the last flight so I changed it up a bit starting with a trio of canapes including salmon, ground venison, and cheese on a gingerbread crisp.  The venison was my favorite and the spices had a nice kick to them.

After I finished with that, my table cloth and setting was placed along with a bread basket.  The caviar course followed shortly after. I had the chicken and lemongrass consommé next which was basically chicken noodle soup without the noodles. I did not want the lamb again so I requested the chicken machbous which was a great meal.  The chicken was tender and flavorful and the rice was spiced well and served as a nice starch to enjoy. Dessert this time was the chocolate mango torte and it wasn’t too sweet.  It was much more of a dark chocolate feel to it.

I kept watching movies and didn’t really have any interaction with the flight attendants, except for one refill, until my time for the shower was at hand.  They had the bathroom ready for me to use but the shower door wouldn’t latch in place after many tries.  Without it properly latching, the water won’t turn on.  I tried for a few minutes and then the crew tried but couldn’t get it to work.  The latches for the lock even fell off the door.  It was a disappointing way to end my Emirates experience.  They did place fruit and honey at my seat afterwards.

It got a little bumpy on descent into Singapore Changi airport but the actual runway landing was smooth.  We taxied past a couple of the terminals and came into terminal 1.  Deplaning was quick and easy.  Singapore airport is a little different with their secure areas, customs areas, and how they all connect.  I was staying at the Crowne Plaza which is attached to terminal 3 so I hoped on the airside train connecting the terminals and went through customs in terminal 3.  The hotel was right around the corner when I existed.
